Nyung Nay retreat@LDC, Sept 15-17!

Saturday, September 01, 2007

I have enrolled my self for the Nyung Nay retreat to be held at Losnag Dragpa Centre from Sept 15-17, 2007. This is 1st time that I am joining such a Buddhist retreat. I look forward to the retreat and preparing myself mentally for the retreat.

What is a Nyung Nay or "Fasting" retreat and its Benefits

The Nyung Nay retreat is a two-day intensive practice relating to Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, that includes taking the 24-hour Mahayana precepts with the addition of complete fasting and silence on the second day. Doing even one Nyung Nay retreat for just two days is said to be as effective as doing any other three-month purification practices, and it is extremely powerful for healing illnesses, purifying negative karma and opening the heart for compassion.

The Nyung Nay retreat begins at 4 am (Saturday) and ends at 7 am (Monday). It involves meditation, reciting prayers, prostrations, taking the 8 Precepts (1 meal only on the first day) and total fasting (no food, drink nor speech on the second day)
