Should Jasin & Kinabatangan MP be sacked?

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

This is one of the hottest topics right now.

Kinabatangan MP Bung Mokhtar Radin and Jasin MP Mohd Said Yusof parliamentarians, during debate last week on the lack of maintenance resulting in leaks in the Parliament building after heavy downpours, had attacked Fong who raised the issue.

"Where's the leak? The Batu Gajah MP leaks every month too," Bung said referring to DAP representative of the constituency, Fong Po Kuan on Wednesday.

This has cause a public uproar and protest from BN Women Wings, Opposition parties, Woman Group and NGOs.

Personally, I feel that such sexist remarks are uncalled for from an elected MP and they should apologise and withdraw their remarks. Irrespective whether there are BN or oppositions, they should be punish with a suspension for a period of time if they do not apologise.

A Malaysian residing in Singapore has created an online petition-cum-poll on whether two BN members of Parliament (MPs) should be sacked for making sexist remarks in Parliament last week against DAP parliamentarian for Batu Gajah, Fong Po Kuan.

Created by C Paranthaman, 28, on May 11, the petition aims to get the support of Malaysians to bring the issue to the attention of the government.
