BangKok New Suvanabhumi Airport
Wednesday, May 02, 2007
The mega new Bangkok airport was officially opened on September 28, 2006 following the opening of new airports in Kuala Lumpur, HongKong, Seoul and Nagoya. Singapore is expanding Changi airport and many new airports in China. All this countries are building new airports to stay competitive and replacing the old airports which is too small to handle the growing air traffic and tourists. All are targeting to be the premier hub for airlines.
When we travel to Bangkok recently, we have the chance to see this Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. As the airport is big, you to walk quite a lot. For departure, you do not have a choice for moving sidewalk as there are none so you got to walk a long way to the departure holding lounge.
The public taxi is located one floor below the arrival hall. So upon exiting the arrival hall, many agents for Chartered Van and Limosine services will approach you to use their services which costs much more than the public taxi.
At the departure hall, the restaurant & cafes are located in the middle of the shopping areas which is not too nice to dine in an open envirorment.
Below are some of the pictures I took at the airport.
Personally, I find KLIA much more user friendly and slightly better. Maybe I am a bit bias becuase I am Malaysian. But Chek Lap Kok and Changi are also very good.
