YEARS of eating bak kut teh wherever he went led Goh Ah Hwa, a former lorry driver, to experiment and create his own mixture of herbs for the popular Hokkien dish that reputedly originated in Klang. He had his own style, adding dried oysters and ginseng root to his soup which is clear and very mild in herbal fragrance. His well-known shop, Yi Xin Ge, was located in Section 14, Petaling Jaya for over 25 years from 1968. In 1994 it was moved to its present location.
