Day 7 : Long Life Puja @ Kopan Monastery
Saturday, January 05, 2008Day 7 was the highlight of our trip where we did Long Life Puja followed by Dakini Dance Performance. The annual long life puja offered on behalf of the centers, study groups, projects, services and students of the FPMT to our most kind and immeasurably precious Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, source of our inspiration and guidance was held at Kopan Monastery on Dec 10th, after the annual November course.
Making offerings and prayers in this way benefits all, as the merit accumulated by offering a long life puja creates the cause for students to have their teacher remain with them longer, makes merit for our own long life in order to benefit others and it helps to create a connection for us with the precious spiritual friend, causing us to meet with such precious beings in future lives until we attain the highest goal of enlightenment for the benefit of all - so offering these pujas are a very important responsibility for us all.
This year, together with the usual offerings, a unique offering - a very special set of 60 volumes of very rare Kadampa texts that have been brought out of Tibet recently; only three sets are available.
