Vientiane is the Capital of Laos and its a small city with many French-styled mansions. A 1 day city tour will be enough to visit all the main attractions of the city. We went on a 1 day city tour on the 1st day of Golf Trip to Vientiane.
Wat Sisaket in Vientiane is one of the most important temples in Laos and known as the only temple that survived the Siamese occupation that destroyed Vientiane in 1828. It was restored in 1924 and subsequently in 1930. The architecture of the temple has some Siamese influence but is mostly based on Laos design. All in all, the temple contains more than 5,000 Buddha statues in various sizes and postures.
Wat Sisaket was built in 1818 by King Anouvong, the last King of the Lao Lane Xang Kingdom. Wat Sisaket remains the oldest temple in Vientiane.
