After walking around the mall for a while, we decided to have our dinner at Penang Village which is having Opening Special @ 20% discount if you spend RM50.00 and above. It has been quite awhile since we dine at Penang Village since they closed their outlet at USJ Taipan.


The menu with all the Nyonya dishes and prices rather pricey.

The foods are nothing much to shout about and just normal. After 20% discount, we paid RM59.00 for food and drinks.

During my recent trip to JB, I checked out another restaurant that serves homemade noodles in many different choices. After shopping at the new Sutera Shopping Mall, we went over to the Sutera Commercial Centre - Sutera Utama to look for foods as nothing much at the mall except for those regular food chains stores.

It is already 8.45pm and found this restaurant which is about to close at 9pm. We were their last customers.

There are so many types of noodles for you to choose from.

Decor is just simple and clean.

Nice reminder on top of the chilli bottle. Eat how much, take how much. Dont waste.

For me, I ordered the Fu Kua (Bittergourd) + homemade noodles.

My Mrs ordered the Fried Tau Foo/Fish Balls + Spinach noodles.

My B-i-l ordered the Tom Yam Noodles.

My son tried the Dry noodles.

we make the right choice as the noodles are delicious and all of us are satisfied with our orders. I shall be back to try the other types of noodles next time when I am back in JB.

After trying out the Sang Yee Mee Hoon, we went back to Bentayan Food Court to buy the Bentayan Otak-Otak. There are two stalls there and the shoes shop boss recommended me the 1st stall.

By this time, the food court is full with people having their dinners.

This is the stall that we bought the Otak-Otak.

It is operated by two youngsters. The shoes shop boss told us that it is run by an old man. Probably he is off today. We bought 6 boxes @ RM5.00 and few sticks to try along the way back.

So happy see me coming, got big orders!!!

This is the other Otak-Otak stall, Sum Kee Otak-Otak. Same surname as me, next trip I will support them.

While we were shopping @ the Americana Shoes Shop, I checked with the boss what are the good foods around Muar. He recommended me the Bentayan Food Court for the Otak-Otak/Fried Oysters and Muar Sang Yee Mee Hoon. According to him, there are two restaurants that serve nice Sang Yee Mee Hoon. One is Ting Ting and the other Chen Chen Siang. Ting Ting Siang has many customers from Singapore while Chen Chen Siang is patronized by locals. He recommended me to try the Chen Chen Siang.

So after our visit to Bentayan Food Court, we headed to this restaurant and reached there at around 6pm. It is located along the Muar/Yong Peng road.


It is quite early so not so many customers at that time.

So many different dishes for you to choose.

The menu contains all their specialties.

Off course, we choose the Sang Yee Mee Hoon + Sai Toh Fish Ball which we came here for.

Here come the Sang Yee Mee Hoon which you normally don't find it in KL/PJ. RM15.00 for 2 persons.

It is cooked in claypot with fresh slices of Sang Yee and Fish balls. Yummylicious.

We ordered the Sweet & Sour Fish. This dish is tasty too. RM12.00

And plain fried sweet potatoes leaves. Just normal. RM6.00

All in with Chinese Tea (Char Wong) : RM40.00

By contributing towards this project with my this blog entry, I am helping to sending a kid to the movies sponsoered by Universal International Pictures (UIP).

Coming back from JB on Monday, I wanted to stop at Pagoh Rest Area for a rest but make the wrong turn and landed at the Pagoh exit Toll instead. After the toll turn left is to Muar and right is Pagoh. It was around 4.15pm then and we decided to head towards Muar to check out the town and look for some foods and buy some Otak-Otak.



From the toll to Muar is about 48kms and we reached the town at around 4.45pm. We stopped by a shoes shop to buy some sandals and enquire with the boss where to find good local foods. He introduced to me the Otak-Otak, Fried Oyster @ the Bentayan Food Court and Muar Sang Yee Meehoon.

We drove to the Bentayan FoodCourt and it was still early as not all the stalls are opened yet. The Bentayan Otak-Otak and Fried Oyster opened around 5.30pm.


And we tried the fried Kuay Teow which is just next to the Fried Oyster stall.



This plate of Kuay Teow cost only RM2.50 and it taste a liitle different from the Penang Style. It is cooked with more dark sauce and it is yummy. But I would still prefer the Penang Style.

I have not been blogging for quite awhile. What happened??? Well, just taking a break and busy with something else.

I have not been to a Western Restaurant for quite sometime as I do not fancy western foods that much. Today I decided to had lunch at San Francisco Steakhouse as they have Lunch Set Meal Promotion @ RM16.90 with free flow of Soup of the Day and Soft Drinks. What more, I had a RM50.00 gift voucher which is due to expire end of Dec 2008.






The place was cosy and not very crowded. Good place to eat and chat.

For the starter, we were serve the bun, butter and soup of the Day. Sorry I missed out taking pic of the soup which was mushroom soup.

My son ordered this garlic bread @ RM2.50 and.....

Fish & Chips Set Lunch @ RM16.90. The menu for the Set lunch is different from Day 1 to 7. Each day, you have a choice two type of set lunch.

My Mrs had this Grilled Salmon Lunch.

And me. ala Carte, Maryland chicken @ RM19.90 which is such a huge portion that I had difficulty finishing it.


Even though I am not a western foods lover, I find the foods here yummy. All in the bill came up to RM65.00.
