Chenrensig (Guan Yin) Sand Mandala

I was at LDC yesterday for the Tara Puja and managed to take some pictures of the nun from Khachoe Ghakyil Nunnery constructing the sand mandala. Kachoe Ghakyil Nunnery is located below Kopan Monastery near the sacred Buddhist town of Boudhanath in Nepal's Kathmandu valley.

  1. I'm always amazed by how detail the sand mandala is. And I'm even more amazed by the patience and all the hard work put on it.

  2. What I like about the making of sand mandala is that they take so much time and put in so much effort to build it and then, destroy it later to show impermanence. This is something we have to practice in life. Many of us can't let go.

If you do start a blog on Buddhism, please let me know.
