Rock melon commonly imported from Australia is now produce in Cameron Highlands. It is available at much lower price compared to those imported from Australia. The price per kilo is RM8.00/kilo while the Australian one cost above RM20.00/kilo. Quality wise, the home grown one is just as good.According to Mr Lim of Lojing, his weekly produce of 10,000pcs is not enough for the local market due to the strong demand.

The friendly gentleman is Mr Lim of Lojing and he explained to us that cultivation of rock melon in the past failed and it is only few months ago that he successfuly cultivated rock melon through hydrophobic and not on soil. he distributed all the rock melon to stalls in CH.
I bought one crate from him. My niece from Kuantan had bought 2.5 crates earlier from another shop.
Buy some to try when you visit Cameron Highlands.

Ai Wei; This rock melons are really nice and sweet. When you go CH, dont only go for strawberry. Remember to take home the rock melons. :)
