My home town is in Sg. Lembing and I will be posting some interesting information about this small little town surrounded by hills where you can still feel the fresh air which you cant in the KL concrete jungle.Sungai Lembing town used to be a busy mining town and housed the largest underground tine mine in the world - today it is almost deserted since it is simply no longer economic to continue mining in the area. The State Government plan to develope this town into a tourist resort and has built a mining museum which open a year ago.

The Tapis Waterfall, or popularly known as Rainbow Waterfall, is probably the most beautiful waterfall in Malaysia ( if weather conditions are perfect ) and can be reached by lorry via a 10 kilometres laterite track followed by a 10 kilometres logging trail from Sungai Lembing town. Here the waterfall drop vertically and as it splashes down, the water is broken up and reaches the bottom as mist and in the process forms a rainbow usually between sunrise and 11am when the sun is at a certain angle.

My last trip to Lembing was 1980s. I remember the hanging bridge and nice distance friends. Most I knew are old man by now while kids are at its youth. I hope to revisit and wonder if there is place to stay for a night or two. A hostel or local motel. Can you advice me. The town folks , its warm was something i burnt in my memory till this day.
