The best one that I have eaten is at Hai Peng Kopitiam @ Chukai, Kemaman.
For those who know, Hai Peng is synonymous with the great special brew of coffee in Terengganu.

Nasi Dagang means trader’s rice or traveller’s rice. In the days of old, traders or travellers would equip themselves with such a necessity when travelling afar to trade. Basically, this is plain long grain rice cooked in spices and steamed in coconut milk. It is eaten with curried ikang aya (tuna). Unlike the Kelantan version which uses brown rice, the Terengganu nasi dagang uses white long grain rice and tastes much better and more ‘creamy’ or lemak.
More 'creamy' or lemak.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, it actually depends on the right amount and combination of glutinous rice and coconut milk used. Brown rice or long grain (polished) rice only contributes little, depending much on the grain quality itself ( rice mills tend to produce brown rice out of low grade grain )
However, brown rice is much healthier tho .. he he thus I prefer the Kelantanese version better.
